february 23, 2001.
It seems that as the days of my vacation become fewer, I can only do a shrinking amount of useful things. Yesterday I cleaned the house for 3 hours, but today all I could produce were 3 pages of notes on assistive technology. I have two presentations to do on Wednesday - one depends on these paltry notes I made today, the other depends on notes that I have never seen from the prof...and that are locked away in the office until Monday.
I'm doomed.

The Boy was sick when he came home from work today: not vomiting blood or anything you'd need to see a doctor about, just general undifferentiated fatigue. I believe that Feelin' crappy is the Latin handle of his particular ailment.
In honour of this, he's gone to bed early, and I just returned from tucking him in. He says that he especially likes me when he's sick..which was such a husband-cliché that I just had to laugh. Next he'll be falling asleep on the sofa and building really big sandwiches in between working on his boat.
Heh. That's less and less funny the more times I read through it.

Tonight's movie selection: Bedazzled. Not a heavy toll on the old brain, but still strangely unsatisfying. Why the nerd baiting? (oh yeah, I forgot that in Hollywood no one is supposed to be socially awkward.) Why was the witty erudite character inevitably gay? (man, I forgot that in Hollywood book smarts make you ugly (girl) or effeminate (boy)) Why did Liz start to like him after he "outsmarted" her? (but wait, I forgot that in Hollywood strong sexy omnipotent women secretly like to be mastered by stupid men.)
And for Christ's sake, why was the dues ex machina ending so literally - well - deus ex machina?
I dunno. The costume people did their work well, I guess. But it was just so cloyingly Hollywood, so big budget middlebrow krep that I found myself longing to see the Cook original. I hear that there's old-fashioned wit in the witty dialogue. Can't wait.
But I have to admit, I was extremely excited by the Monkeybone trailer at the beginning of the tape. It looks like Cool World...only good.
